My mum has said tonight that she will come and help with looking after the children after she finishes her part-time job every day (approximately 3 hours)
Last friday i took on a 11month old little boy full time (50 hours a week) and my mum just send she would help with me cooking the tea and generally just be around.
How do i go about this???
I know i would have to ring ofsted up and get her registered as my assistant and get a crb check for her done.
But she doesn't want paying so how does that work??
I would'nt need to leave her on her own at anytime.
Advice gratefully received
Jen x

Hi Jen
It should be simple, just phone Ofsted and they will send you a CM2 form, complete that and then they will send your mum a CRB form to complete.
Once all that has gone through, assuming the CRB etc. is ok, she would be able to help you.
That's about it. If you did want to leave the children with her then you would need parents permission. If she doesn't want paying that is fine, it's up to her.
Hope that helps. x

Thanks for your advice Pauline and Angel. I have just rung Ofsted and they said i can download a CM2 form off their website. But the lady on the phone said an inspector would have to come out and see my mum? I'm not sure if she knew what she was talking about as she was very hesitant. My mum will not be left with the children on her own and she won't be helping everyday. I don't want to up my numbers or anything If an inspector has to come out my mum won't want to do it. Is this all correct??? Jen x

Jen - when my husband registered as my assistant they didn't come out to visit him but then again he had already been CRB's when I registered and just needed an update.
It could be that they won't come out after all, sometimes what they say on the phone can be different to what happens in your particular area.
Angel and Susan - changed it last week! It originally said registered since 1984 but I thought it would save people having to add up! (Plus it just confirms what everyone knows - I'm mad ;D)

Ofsted didn't come out for my husband either but he was already CRB checked as part of the registration process.
