Can I ask a really silly question please!!! On your registration certificate have Ofsted already taken into account your own children. Im sure Ive asked this of many people before but i want to get it right as Ive had a woman ask about her 2yr old and her 8yr old twins. My cert says no more than 2 under 5, at the moment I have my daughter 3 and a little boy 15mths....am I ok to say yes to having her daughter? Sorry for being a dunce!! Samx

No not being thick!
You are allowed 3 under 5's in total (this includes your own if under 5) No more than 1 of your under 5's is allowed to be under 12 months
Hope this makes sense - I haven't started minding yet, but sick of the sight of the standards and other reference info!

Hi Sam You're not thick! It's a minefield In your case I would strongly suggest you ring Ofsted and check - 08456 404040 The reason I am saying this is because you might have been allowed 2 under 5 for a specific reason..eg the inspector didn't think your house was big enough or you haven't got enough rooms that you use for minding.... Lots of minders get certificates that are different from others... Ofsted sometimes seem to make these things up as they go along and it is always worth double checking! Sarahx

I have to say that i think you'll be fine taking this little one on (your certificate doesn't include your own children), so sounds right 2 minded & your own little girl takes you up to the max under 5 allowance! As Sarah says though it really wouldn't hurt to check! Tasha
