Hi all Just when i thought the situation was coming to an end i recei ved a letter from mum in the post yesterday morning. She is now asking me for money to cover the time she has had off work and to cover charges for the new potential childminders settling in period. What a cheek, i was absolutely gobsmacked. If i dont reply (or pay up) by Monday 26th November she is going to Ofsted. Ive spoken to Ofsted and they said as the complaints are all contractual they wont be interested. She still owes me for the 2 weeks termination period when i still held the place for her daughter, it was her that decided not to bring her (though i wasnt sorry). Some people just wont let things rest will they. Lynn xx

I can't believe she has done that, what a cheek.
How are you going to deal with it??
At least Ofted know about it in case she goes to them with some other complaint just to be spiteful.
Stay calm if you can
Good luck
Sarah

Hi again all. Ive sent a letter back today addressing all her grievances and pointing out that in actual fact she should have paid me for the 2weeks that she didnt bring her daughter as the place was still available for her. Ive checked that all my paperwork is up to date and in place and now all i can do is wait. For what i'm not sure. As this is now an actual complaint and the first i have had, should i just log all the information myself or is there a definite complaints form that i should be filling in. Help asap please. Lynn xx

I would keep records of everything you can for your own reference but I don't think you need to keep official records until you receive something in writing from either her or Ofsted. As you said earlier recording of complaints does not relate to contractual issues anyway.
Hope that helps
Sarah

Thanks for that Sarah, i'm just keeping and logging anything and
everything that i think might be applicable.

I had a similar incident recently. Except mine was a phone call.
I wrote it all up in my Accident/Incident book as an Incident.

Hi Rascals and all
Haven't been on for a couple of days so am just trying to catch up.
I guess you will have terminated the contract by now, hope its going OK. Unfortunately unless you want to really persevere with the child and the one i had was making me, my family and mindees very miserable, then there is no other option.
Let us know how it all went. Lynn xx

i seem to have missed this post (some posts are marked as new when I have read all the posts but thats a different story).
So long as you gave the correct notice period and were willing to work then she cannot claim any money off you as has been said she owes you for two weeks. Depending on what notice period you had of course. if you had refused to work and had not got hte reason on the contract for immediqte termination then you would have been liable as she said but this does not apply as you were willing to work.
hope it all gets sorted okay
love Kate
