Inform Ofsted? Am I missing something? Didn't realise we had to inform Ofsted anything about when new mindee's start. Hope someone can clear this up for me because now I'm worried that I have never told them anything.

well i thought we did as that's when they know to plan the ofsted inspections - no point them coming round when you don't have any children? or do they come round anyway after a set time after you register with them - ? please help me to clear this up as i'm getting worried now - do i have to get ready for an inspection??

Usually they come for your first inspection after 6 months of registration but they call beforehand to update their records, ie, how many mindee's you have, times, dates etc, then an inspector calls to arrange a visit.
I had a call from Ofsted beginning of Aug asking this & still waiting for the inspector to ring.

Hi nadmaj - are you waiting for an initial inspection? And having to tell ofsted when you are working? If so, hang on til you have a regular routine set up and a child who you are getting to know, so you are more relaxed when they come Sarahx

Hi nadmaj - are you waiting for an initial inspection? And having to tell ofsted when you are working? yes that's right - since i've been registered i only has 1 child which i thought was going to be permanent but didn't get round to ringing ofsted to let them know but his mother decided to didn't want childcare anymore after a week so i didn't bother informing ofsted. So i'm not breaking any rules by having mindees in between here and there until they become permanent?

So long as it's your first inspection you're waiting for - and you've got your Ofsted certificate, your insurance and up-to-date first aid on the wall, then you're fine! Just carry on trying to get children and when you have one in place, give them a ring and tell them you're now working and ready to be inspected Good luck with the little ones on Saturday! Got plenty of ingredients for playdough?? Sarahx

Sarah is right, if you have everything in place that is fine, no need to rattle the Ofsted cage unnecessarily ;D and if you need playdough recipes there are plenty on here: childmindinghelp.co.uk/physical.html
