Hello. I am hoping to register as a childminder but I am concerned about my age.
I am only 20 at the moment but will be 21 by the time I apply.
I am not like most people my age and I have always been very mature etc. I am married and live with my husband
I will also have my own baby by then, as I am due next month.
I also have an NVQ level 2 in early years care and education and I am working towards my NVQ level 3 in children's care, learning and development which I am hoping to complete before starting childminding, but might still be completing.
What do you all think?

I don't think your age will be an obstacle.
It could be a real positive if you market yourself right.
Try to make contact your local surestart and ask if you can advertise yourself in the teen mums group meetings etc. I'm sure being able to get some one nearer their own age would be an advantage to you. I was Chairman of the board in a south devon surestart area and this is one of the comments made to us by the young mums group.
I wish you great sucess in your new business venture.
Please keep us posted about your new arrival !!!

hmmm answered a post like this on another forum lol, no I think age isn't a factor, I would want to know you were offical, and insured etc, and that would be my criteria, not someones age, young or old Good luck, and with the baby too xx

Hi, shouldnt be a problem. One of my mums is 20 and she has just registered with no problems. Your qualifications are a bonus as well.
Good luck
