I have just read back through all my posts and realised i never introduced myself! How rude am i?
Well, i am 27 and live in Bedford. I have 4 children aged 8, 6, 4 and 6 months and had never considered childminding until i was pregnant with my youngest. I went to the midwife drop in clinic a bit early and it happened to be a childminder drop in session. There was a woman asking everyone "have you ever thought of being a childminder?" I nearly laughed, why would i want more children running round?
But the more i thought about it the more it made sense. I've always been surrounded by children. Their capacity for learning astounds me. I would like to become a foster parent eventually but that has to wait until we live in a bigger house.
I have been doing research for a couple of months on childminding and have just had my first (of three) pre-registration information session. It was ok, as i am a member of this forum i already knew everything the lady said, which made it a bit boring. Just goes to show how great you all are!
I will be taking in some cards with the forum details on it next monday to hand out.
Thanks to everyone on here for being so lovely and kind, i appreciate it.
I don't think when i register i'll get on too well with the other childminder that collects from my childs school. I have seen her with her mindees every morning for the last few months and have never once seen her talk to any of them!
Thank goodness for this forum!!
Helen

Welcome Helen, I'm sure your post will be moved!! Thats a shame about the other childminder in your school This forum is a god send, I am lucky though as one of the new members goes to my school and we are trying to get another childminder on here too!! I never feel odd with lots of children, I have 2 of my own and when it's just them it feels weird!!! Glad you were up to date on you pre-reg courses!! When I did mine, I had moved down from SCotland so had already been through it all and it was sooo dull!! But then we all have to learn it somewhere ;D

I gave some to the lady running it and she said, oh a forum, theres lots out there. So i think she may "forget" to bring them next week.
Good job i'm just going to give them out next week before she starts!
