Hi
Im just going through the process of getting myself registered after giving up work full time and wondered if anyone knew the answer to a few worries.
I am currently taking Anti Ds after having my DS3 4 months ago I only had mild PND but went on the anti Ds to prevent severe PND (I suffered quite badly after DS2) will this be a problem on my health check?
My DS1 has Aspergers Syndrome (the main reason I gave up work) he is 8 years old but will this affect the number of children I can mind?
Im sure I will have many more questions/worries whilst getting started but thats all for today!

Hi there,
To be honest, I don't know! But wanted to say hi.
I'm sure that when you go to your dr, to fill in your medical form - he/she would put the reason in (mild PND), and the reason why prescribed.
With regard to your son, maybe it would be best to call ofsted, and explain - and ask their advice?
Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Hi I also wanted to say Hello
Sorry to hear you have been poorly hope you are feeling better now
I agree your doctor would put mild pnd on the medical form so hopefully it will not be a problem
I am not sure how Ofsted work with regards to your son
I care for a child with a disability she is 10 and I have to count her in my under 5 numbers when she is here
Hope we see you around and ask as many questions as you like
Good luck
Angel xx

Thanks for your reply! Im sure the Dr will be ok signing me off, I must be ok to look after children, I manage just fine with my three. They were given more as a prevenative than anything so I could come off them now really. I reakon that I could turn the Asergers sydrome into a plus by saying it shows that I have experience of caring for a child with special needs. Ive just started working through my policies and documents etc so I'm sure that I will need more halp again soon!

my 14 year old son has adhd and dyslexia - and on my inspection it was noted that I had experience with children with special needs - so yes, it will probably go in your favour.

I worried about my registration after I suffered PND and was on anti-d's too.
So long as its managed and the doctor gives you the ok there should be no problem.
You can show that your experience with your son in a major plus plus in being able to and manage special needs. I don't know if would affect your numbers though.

Hi
I've cared for two children with Assperger's Syndrome (still caring for one) and Ofsted have not had any problem with it.
Welcome to the forum and good luck with the registration process
