Firstly - I hope I have posted this in the right place Just after a bit of a poll really. I am still waiting on my registration but I have two Mindees already lined up, brother and sister all day Tuesday and Wednesday. This means with my DD (age 4) I am 'full'on these two days, iyswim. Do you think I will struggle to fill my remaining Mon, Thurs and Friday? What I mean do most parents want the full week and not days here and there? Have I made any sense? Mandy xx

I've only ever done part time (except for one child). To be honest it's a bit of a lottery who rings but I tend to find if I can't accommodate one day they often have a relative or friend come out of the woodwork - if they want me badly enough! You might have problems, but it will be extra important CIS have your vacancy details right (they often make mistakes) and you call them regularly to pop to the top of the list Put the word out around toddler groups etc as well - that you're available certain days - it might help! I think you probably have to weigh up if you are willing to miss out on two part timers in the hope that a full timer may come along!!
On the other hand there are lots of parents who only work two or three days a week. Or as Sarah says they have a relative able to "cope" with one or two days.

Hi,
I have 7 unders 5's and 5 over 5's all part time from Tuesday to Friday. The maximum I have any one of them is 2 full days.
I like having part timers. My kids don't get bored seeing the same children every day and if one leaves my income drops a little but not enough for me to panic.
If your odd days aren't quite what a parent is looking for they will often switch working days to suit me.

I have a few children full time and I have lots of part timers
I usually find they fit around each other
If they do not then someone else always calls that only need a few hours
It is always worked out really well and some people do only want a few days or a few hours
I never work for less than 10 hours a week though and I state that in my contract - those are my terms So for example if a parent wanted 6 hours of minding they would still have to pay for 10
Good luck have fun

Hello all of my mindees are part time and i also was worried about filling the gaps but you do seem to get parents that want odd days and for me personally was just good luck it all fitted so well . but it just depends on the calls you get you will fill them just a matter of time

Thank you all. It's reassuring to know that I should be able to fill the 'bits in between'
