One is a toy shihtzu who is 6yrs old and just curls up on her bed all day lol and then i have a toy poodle who is 9mths who will proberely be out with my husband who runs a gardening company...will i have problems? Are their certain things i need to have or be aware off for the ofsted report/visit?? thanks

as far as i am aware there are no rules on what pets you can have. However you have to be aware of the dangers of having pets for example where the pet food is kept? can the children get to it? You have to ensure the children wash their hands after touching pets etc and ofsted will ask how you are going to ensure this.

I have it written into my brochure and policies that I have dogs.
I state that this is a valuable learning experience. I also state that no child will ever be left alone with an animals, I say that I will teach children to be kind and considerate to animals and ask that parents teach the same (I also say that whilst my animals are child-friendly, I will always supervise petting and contact with all animals and that children need to be aware of asking before touching an animal and that given provocation or fear an animal will use its only defence - teeth but I take every step to ensure that this will not happen). I point hygiene factors too.
I am lucky enough to have a large garden and can separate the area that the dogs use to the play area. I always check the garden daily for any animal mess.
My kitchen has a gate and that area is the dogs area where their bowls/drink is, and animal feed kept in a cupboard.
I also point out that my dogs are reguarly groomed, cleaned and all vaccinations and flea and worm treatments are up to date.

Like Vic I ensure that my cat is fully vaccinated, wormed and de-fleaed.
I also keep a record of when it was done and when it is next due.

Pets are not a bad thing for minders, ofsted just like to know that you have thought about the mindees and pet so write a policy and do a risk assessment. That should be more than enough.
