:ideas and help
I am a newly registered childminder, but this is the problem i am working full time still
All eager to go, just no children.
Has anyone gone form working full time, to going childminder. How do you do it. Because I would need to give a months notice at my job, but do not want to turn away any children ( which would be great if anyone had actually contact me problem number 2)
I have put adverts up, put my details on net mums and registeredchildminder.com. Telling everyone I have vacancy and I mean everyone(except my boss)
Any ideas would be appreciated

I left my job to become a childminder, I worked 30hrs, while I was in the process of registering I had a child lined up so when I got my registration through I handed in my notice when 2 weeks before I left the mum changed her mind on her start date then she decided she couldn't afford my fees in advance. so I left my job with no children to mind , I put posters out went on the childminders list, this was before christmas then I went away for a few days in beginning of Jan when I came back I had loads of phone calls, I now have a 17 month old to look after & now hoping to have a 9 month old too.
I would suggest that you advertise everwhere, even have some business cards done & leave them in public places, I would not give your job up tilll you have a contract signed. Is there a childminder group near you?

Hello and welcome to the Forum. I think Shirl 's experience shows how things can change so quickly. Make sure you are on the CIS website as this is one of the most important places to advertise. As you need to give a month's notice your ideal would be a new mum on maternity leave who would be able to wait as they will know their return to work date. Try advertising in your local clinic especially on 'baby' days, doctors surgery, Sure Start centres are now starting to have baby clinics too, so if there is one near you perhaps they would allow you to advertise. You are advertising in all the right places, but local advertising is the best way forward as that is where your work will come from, I would put all my efforts into that. Good luck

thanks for the replies I know I am doing all the right things, just getting impatient. Also a bit worried about advertising too much as my boss might see. Just got some business cards, feel very grown up now. So I shall go and blitz Luton.
