Do Ofsted allow trackers as a way of recording observations? I have planned activitie sheets, which include the Bt3 links, and extensions ideas, do daily record sheets for kids to go home with and a scrap book of photos. Do i need to do observation sheets or would trackers suffice? Many thanks in advance.

I am not 100% sure if this is correct - but common sense would tell you that it is
I read somewhere the other day that OFSTED do not like you using trackers if this is all you are using They wrote that anyone can fill in a tick sheet as that is basically what these books are
Sorry but I can not find the article now
But if you do have trackers it is always best to back it up with your knowledge in your activitys and any pics that you take Do not use the tracker books on their own
That is my view anyway even without the article that I read

I agree with what Angel has said about trackers. I too have also heard that Ofsted are not overly keen on them and to be honest neither am I but if you use them alongside observations/notes then they can be useful.
What you are already doing sounds ok. Observations don't have to be huge I know some minders who just jot things down on post it notes so how much you want to write in is up to you. The most important thing is to write things and carry them through (i.e. next steps etc) otherwise the 'next step' part of the observation is not worth the paper it is written on!
As far as how often again that is up to you but a minimum of a couple of times a week is ok.
Hope all this helps
