Ofsted have been doing trial inspections using the Foundation Stage - ofstednews.ofsted.gov.uk/article/225Interesting to read that parents still say they will choose their childcare based on location and reputation though, rather than a report!

Thanks for that Pauline
Interesting reading ........................
"So far we've been interested to hear that although parents are finding the new reports are helpful and easy to understand, their decisions are more likely to be influenced by the location and reputation of settings than the report" ....................
Intersting to see that parents find the reports helpful and easy to understand I wonder what type of people they have been asking
They should come and ask my parents because they do not have a clue and to be honest are not that interested

Do we think this wil happen
"new, consistent approach to inspections"
I do hope so as it will be a nice change as we all know how inconsistent they are

I hope so Kate! There's something wrong when so many minders say 'I deserved an outstanding but my inspector told me she doesn't give them'.... Sarahx

I totally agree with you Sarah - at the moment I think the grading system is a complete lottery

I attended an EYFS introduction meeting last week and it was mentioned then that parents say the last thing they look for in a childminder are the inspection results, they go for reputation, location, even other parents recommendations

Exactly nannan, so long as the setting is secure and their kids are safe most parents really aren't bothered with all the paperwork and documentation and educational bits that we have to offer. Oh yes - cost is a factor too!
