Just to let you all know that you can now order the new tracker books for the Early Years Foundation Stage I would imagine they are going to be informative More expensive than the Birth to Three ones though But bigger - 64 pages and in A4 format Cost is £5 per book Even if you only buy one you can use it as a guildline like I usually do myself Here is the website www.qed.uk.com/Angel xx

I find them expensive to buy for each child, especially if they leave fairly quickly and the book doesn't get finished. I think the stuff Angel did for Birth to Three was far better and am planning to make my own using that information but extending the 'what I can do' sections to suit the EYFS standards up to age 5 You are such a money saver Angel

Thanks for that Pauline
I was thinking of adding to the Birth to Three with the EYFS later on when I get my head round it all Just so everyone knows how to use it
Sometimes they do not explain these things in English and that is why a lot of childminders could not get their head around the Birth to Three
I think like you these books are expensive and you are right so if a child is only with you a short amount of time At £5 a book it would be really expensive
I have sent of for one though just to see if they explain it very well and to see what information I can use
Watch this space everyone and I will see what I can do with the EYFS in a few mths time

I only purchased one
I will use some of the ideas and then adapt it and combine it with Birth to Three myself
Like Pauline mentioned above they are far to expensive to have one for each child
You could do the same

i am the same as angel, i bought one just to see what it was like, it was ok but as has been said would work out too expensive so will adapt and also use my own ideas.

I am not 100% sure if this is correct - but common sense would tell you that it is
I read somewhere the other day that OFSTED do not like you using trackers if this is all you are using They wrote that anyone can fill in a tick sheet as that is basically what these books are
Sorry but I can not find the article now
But if you do have trackers it is always best to back it up with your knowledge in your activitys and any pics that you take Do not use the tracker books on their own
That is my view anyway even without the article that I read

Yes they were very keen on this point at the briefing session. Its not acceptable just to use the tracker books and apparently it doesn't meet the legal requirements just to use the trackers either. So i'll be doing a mixture of documents and evidence to go with them, waiting for my tracker book to come through.

It's just a case really of having a system! I think a lot of CM's only did the trackers & thought that that was B23/FS covered! I wish! Tasha

I know I'm still on B23 but when I had my inspection the other week the "very hard to please" inspector seemed to like what I do... I've adapted pages from the trackers, put them at intervals through an A4 size book then although I've ticked (no dates just ticks) I've stuck in loads of photos with comments about what was happening and what they were discovering etc Hope to do the same with EYFS I am not 100% sure if this is correct - but common sense would tell you that it is I read somewhere the other day that OFSTED do not like you using trackers if this is all you are using They wrote that anyone can fill in a tick sheet as that is basically what these books are Sorry but I can not find the article now But if you do have trackers it is always best to back it up with your knowledge in your activitys and any pics that you take Do not use the tracker books on their own That is my view anyway even without the article that I read Angel xx
