Hi,
As I am in the late process of registration I have been sent the Early Years Foundation Stage as I was told the Birth to Three matters is not being published anymore. The problem I can see is....when Ofsted come to inspect after 3 months (Dec) I have been reading the EYFS and ive read that it doesnt come in until next September. Is this right and is this a problem. Should I be using the BTTM and is it very different from EYFS? Becky

EYFS contains all the stuff from Birth to 3 Matters in a good, straightforward format It is considered good practice and you will be inspected on the care standards that are part of it..... The only problem is that we haven't had training yet for EYFS..... I suggest you write an email to ofsted and ask their advice cos you're in an impossible situation otherwise and don't want to start using something you can't resource However, the good practice from BTTM (see Angel's posts) is relevant whatever framework you are following Sarahx

Hi
I am in exactly the same situation as ofsted have told me to work with BTTM until I am inspected in the next couple of months. I have managed to get hold of a copy of the framework from a friend but could not get a new one myself
It is ridiculous

Thanks for that, I was wondering if I could download it......Its really silly that new childminders cant get hold of a hard copy unless they get it from a friend or find a second hand copy. Thanks All Becky

EYFS contains everything (and more) that was in Birth to 3 and Foundation Stage, plus the standards It is one, complete, stand-alone document which has everything in it we need to know (apparently!) Except, of course, what mood the inspector is in today ;D Sarahx

I have just come back from a tutorial from my early years degree and one of the girls asked the question u have just asked, are tutor used to be an ofsted inspector and she said that you are fine to use eyfs although it does not come into effect until sept 2008. The reason they are giving us the packs now is so we can familarise ourselves with it and we cant do that until we actually put it into practise. I hope this helps. Lindaxx

We have to be using it in Sept 2008, so we need to make sure it's all up and running by then and we cant do that overnight. As the saying goes" sooner rather than later " springs to mind.

Since taking on new children in October I've been using EYFS. The local daycare centre started in Sept using it too
