Hi Do you 'officially' observe your own children. Do ofsted expect you to or just to make sure that activities are appropriate for them too?

I never did! Always minded when they were little, so they got the very best of everything I'd planned for others.... Think how little many parents do and how much we do cos we care about our charges and their learning and development so much! Our children can only be benefitting as a result! Sarahx

I think you are right Sarah, plus they learn much more on the social side and sharing. I started minding when my sons were very young and it's all they've ever known. My youngest son is a fantastic Dad, so patient and with consistent boundaries when dealing with the children, he says that he learnt a lot as he grew up watching me dealing with the children. Makes me feel good. Other son hasn't got any kids yet - will have to see how he turns out

I am sure that it will definitely do my children good and particularly the youngest who hasn't had to share much and has been given lots of leeway by his brothers.

I started minding when my oldest was 18 months, he has always been very good at sharing! I never did any 'observations' on him (or later my dd), but I did jot down things he said, little play thing ect. so yes I did ???yet and me!! What I'm saying is I never did it to the extend of the childminded children but enough for their own keepsafe boxes
also I don't think Ofsted would watch it but as always if they are doing well it shows how you work make sence??? hehe sorry
