B23 & Guidance to the foundation stage apply until Sept 2008 (B23 is compulsary)! In Sept 2008 EYFS replaces the national standards, B"£ & guidance to the foundation stage and will be mandatory! You can immplement EYFS early, but i won't be until I have to because there always problems when something new is introduced and they are still mucking about with it to a degree! What i am doing is using B23 & guidance & trying things out for EYFS to see what works well, so I know what i am doing when I switch!!! The planning's not to bad as long as you keep it simple. I use trackers for each child (just go through them once a month using the daily diaries to remind me of dates). I use the one's from www.qed.co.uk, but it does get v. expensive. Angel has posted her own ones which are great & a lot of people are now using these (wish I had known about this sight when I first started)! I put together a folder of activities detailing what's needed, what I do during the activity, any health & safety stuff needed ie if it was a water activity not to leave them unattended at any time. Then what section it covers. I have a black sheet of paper next to all of the activities with the activity tittle on and note down date & which children participated in that activity & if anything could be improved ie have towels to hand next time!!! Takes time to build up the folder, but you just do it as you go along and after a while you have a very quick reference!!! I also just have a planner that is basically a piece of paper that has the month and year at the top. Underneath i write what topic/activities I hope to do during that month and tick them of when i do it. If for some reason I don't do something I have writen down I either put it on the next months list or write a not why it wasn't done. If I end up doing something that wasn't on the list then I just add it!!! Hope this makes sense - when i first started i felt like I was drowning, but now I've worked out this system I more or less cut through the paperwork!!!! Tasha

Tell me about it Dawn! I'm just waiting to be registered - waiting for hubby's CRB STILL! I am so confused about it all. Was told I can't get Birth 2 3 pack as out of print but I had to work to this because that's what Ofsted will still judge me on! I was told to also get a background knowledge of EYF so ordered the pack and it's got loads in it plus on top of all this worry I'm also trying to get my head round the prospectus, portfolio bla bla bla! My head is in a spin - I wish there was someone near me on here that I could go and see and see their paperwork and maybe borrow their B23 pack as I'm better at taking things in on paper than on screen? ? I will keep an eye on this thread and see what help you get. Sorry I'm no help whatsoever am I! Sorry! At least you know someone else is confused too and have comfort in the fact that I know less than you! Ha ha! Lorri
