Do you all show your parents the birth to three work you do?
Is it a requirement to show the parents?

I gave all my parents a copy of the complete folder
Only one of them had ever heard of it ( that being the parent who works in the nursery )
No one was interested in it - only the other day one of the parents said she found the folder in a draw and wondered what the hell it was " Because she has never looked at it "
The only reason I gave them out is because for some reason I got sent loads of copies
I just work to birth to three in each of the children's folders - even then parents are really not aware of what it is - even after explaining So yes they do get to see the work they just do not really understand it all
Or some parents are just not interested
Amazing really all the hard work that we put into it and how some of you panic about it on here - when half the time the parent is not bothered
I am talking about 14 different sets of parents here plus parents that have come and gone since birth to three started
Does anyone else have this problem or are your parents interested in it or do they even understand it?
Sorry I went on a bit there ha

Yeah, my friend works in a nursery and asked to see her daughters stuff tonight, but I havnt updated it since the last time she saw it.
so she said ' well i have to do 3 observations a day'
I said 'thats nice, I dont'.
Just got my back up a bit. How many obs do you do in a day? Is it even daily - mine have been averaging about 3 a month - should maybe do some more but I just forget about it and with the EYFS coming in I just think B23 is a waste of time and we should be able to switch if we want to.
I don't have a problem with them seeing it obviously but Im not going to be dictated to about it and be compared to a nursery.

Most are not interested Angel which is a shame when you consider the work put in.
Lana - I don't think it's actually a requirement but I do think that it would come under 'sharing information with parents' and that you ought to, even if they are not interested at least you tried!

Well I do not do observations on a daily basis
Even I would run out of ideas
I do them when I feel like it and add it to their book every 2 weeks or once a month
That way you see how they have changed
For example 2 weeks ago a baby might not be able to grasp a toy but 2 weeks on he might be able to so it is nice to see the change and development I think
I also feel that Birth to Three is now a waste of time another few mths and we will no longer be using it in the same way
Even when it is EYFS I will not be doing it daily
Like you say we are not a nursery I do not want to spend my whole time doing paper work which I personally think is enough already

i'm not surprised she got your back up Lana, that would have done me too. i would have been inclined to say well if you're not happy with the number of obs i do, send her to nursery instead.
