A friend arranged for me to receive a pack but I have not got round to having more than a quick glance. I have just managed to speak to an NCMA development officer in my area and she confirmed that the EYFS is only for England. Apparently the Early Years Foundation Phase for Wales has only just undergone the consultation process so we have to wait for the outcome. So glad I didn't spend hours reading it when it might not even be applicable!!!

I am just glad someone has actually confirmed it for me. I have been trying for ages to get some confirmation if we need to follow BTTM or anything similar. Anyway there is nothing in place at the moment unless you want to be accredited. As you say no doubt it will probably end up being the same as England.

Thanks Angel! I was having a look through the welfare standards today and thankfully they don't look that different from the standards we work to now... though the language is a bit different and they aren't numbered which could make following them a bit tricky.... What do you think? Got my briefing next Monday so might find out more then Sarahx

Has anybody seen the EYFS observation record books that the BCMA website are selling. I wonder if they are any good, it would be good to get an opinion on these from others, before ordering.

Hi, The observation books arrived that I ordered from the Bromley site - must say I'm disappointed - could have knocked this up on my computer in 5 mins! Think I'll use the QED trackers when they are available to get me going on EYFS!!! Tasha

Basically, there's a few notes in the front & back (nothing that isn't in the EYFS framework pack and then....14 pages exactly the same each titled look, listen & note. There are four columns underneath the tittle; Column 1: Date - with 5 (empty) boxes underneath (for different dates). Column2: Look, listen & note - again with 5 empty boxes underneath. Column 3: Link to EYFS - 5 empty boxes. Column 4: Next steps - 5 empty boxes. The booklet is A5, so as you can imagine there's not all that much space to write! V. basic! Tasha

I really don't gey why this link isn't working as i've copied and pasted it & I'm looking at the EYFS! It doesn't work if you copy & paste it weird!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok 1) Go th www.dfes.gov.uk2) Enter Early years foundation stage into search bar (top right). 3) When search results come up it's the 6th one down - click onto it. 4)The next page is the one I've been trying to give you a link off! You can either download the EYFS or if you go to the bottom of the page you can order it online!!! Tasha
