Can anybody please help me. I have my ofsted inspection next week and didn't realise that it IS a necessity for childminders to be using birth to three framework. I thought it wasn't compulsory until next year and so on that basis I haven't done a thing. I do understand (thanks to angel) the aspects and components but I really don't know how to record everything. Do I need planning sheets, activity sheets and observation sheets or can it all be done on one. Has anybody got anything at all they can email me? I am going to have to do some back planning and records so it looks like i've been doing it. PLEASE HELP ME!

Hi caroline www.bromleycma.org.uk/BTTM_Observation_Sheet.docthese are the sheets I have been using for birth to three and just filling in the observations and then how it relates to the birth to three framework. its off the bromley website. so I just adjusted it a little to suit me. then i just put 4 dividers into a lever arch file and have these in there under each section. I've also started using pictures. xx x

thanks Lana, I will have a look. You have no idea how stressed out I am. My Mum is having children for the day tomorrow so I can concentrate on everything. Everything is in order I suppose (policies, contracts etc) playroom is tidy and organised (no children allowed to play in there until Ofsted are here!) just bt3 and planning thats letting me down.

I also didnt think it was compulsary yet, I just thought we needed an idea of birth to 3 until 2008. Also are we meant to be doing these activities on a daily basis?

Remember that Birth to Three will be phased out in 2008 that is when they hope that childminders will be doing the EYFS instead
You should be using your Birth To Three now

Most of the activities ( if you check out the ones that I put on here for Birth to Three ) you will be doing anyway as a matter of course
You could observe about every month though as not much is going to change in a week is it - so make notes of some of the activities you have done for the month and fill them into your observation sheets or whatever you use

The birth to three notes that I put on here explains how to observe children
Example - do they grasp things with their hands Do they feed themselves Do they follow you with their eyes
All the birth to three that I put here plus the activities should make it easier for anyone to do their observations
Do not worry if you have not been on a course it is only basically what I have told you on here How you record it is up to yourself
