Hi You're not being dumb at all, or if you are then that must mean I am too... I have been on the birth to three awareness course and have got all the books but still am flummuxed as to how to implement the framework. Here's hoping someone can explain it to us in laymans terms!!

I too am a bit confused but i made up a progress folder last night for the little girl I mind and am going to start it from today.
I have a lever arch file and have used dividers for each section of birth to three. I am going to used pictures, observation sheets and any pieces of work she makes in my care to put into the folder. I guess the hardest thing is knowing that you are doing oit correctly - but im sure Ofsted wont hold back in telling me if its wrong!

If you do activities - playing, playing with sand, reading books, building with bricks, singing, playing board games , doing jigsaws and many more of your own ideas and then look at all the pointers and use them and observe to check the child's development during that activity you can then use them in your birth to three
You could use just short notes if you want
So by playing / observing you could ask yourself these type of questions and put the answers after you have observed
Hope this helps it is very difficult to explain what I mean but I hope you understand
There are 4 different components to each stage
A STRONG CHILD A SKILFUL COMMUNICATOR A COMPETENT LEARNER A HEALTHY CHILD
I will post them in the the Birth to Three section separately in each of their headings to make it easier to just read the one you are after
