Some people are having trouble getting these packs at the moment here is what the Bromley newsletter says ......... Birth to three matters A Bromley Childminder recently emailed Dfes to request a copy of the Birth to three matters framework pack and received the following response. ‘The Birth to Three Matters framework is being superseded and is therefore no longer available to order in hard copy. The Framework is to be replaced by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). EYFS is the new regulatory and quality framework for the provision of care and education for children between birth and the academic year in which they turn five (0-5). EYFS will build on and replace the existing statutory Curriculum guidance for the Foundation Stage, the non-statutory Birth to Three Matters framework and elements of the regulatory frameworks in the National Standards for Under 8s Daycares and Childminding. EYFS materials will be published in the middle of March. Birth to Three Matters framework is still available to download via the below web link: www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/primary/publications/foundation_stage/940463/ You can view/download other DFES frameworks on the following website: www.dfes.gov.uk/publications/ As soon as the new framework is launched, BCMA will be looking to update the website to reflect the new framework and put together additional information to help support childminders. Please bear with us during this time Hope this helps anyone who is having trouble getting the pack Angel xx

I do not think that the EYFS starts till around sept 08 so I am not really sure why people are having trouble getting their copy of Birth to Three it seems that we will need it for a while yet ?
It is all very confusing and I am reading different things about it myself
I guess we will have to not panic and just wait and see

called the dfes this morning.
according to one call handler the information is due to be available from tomorrow 13/3.
then she passed me throught to some other guy in publications who was a bit like the girl in little britain when 'computer says no'. totally unhelpful and said 'oh some time the end of the month'. and obviously couldnt be bothered to talk to me. DO YOUR JOB MATE!
So im going to call back again tomorrow and find out if his computer has been updated cos the first person i spoke to had different information to him.
just thought id let you know that anyway.

yeah, their websit doesnt really say anything which is the problem. I just had a chat with my friend - the one who's little girl im minding. she started her job at the nursery today. She said that its coming into effect for her nursery april 2008. I spoke to my support childminder today as i wasd confused. I thought if they were bringing it out now it would be just aswell to start with that in the begining instead of birth to three. but oh no, lets make ot a bit more complicated and until ofsted make it official that it has replaced birth to three we have to continue with that. surely if they feel that the new eyfs is to replace birth to three then it would make more sense to get as many people to start using that as soon as the details are published? ? im rambling, sorry....

EYFS materials The EYFS package is a pack of resources that contains the regulatory and legal framework for early childhood education and care together with wider guidance. It comprises:
Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage booklet which sets out both the welfare requirements and the learning and development requirements which must be followed by all providers in delivering the EYFS. The welfare requirements cover safeguarding and promoting children's welfare, suitable people, premises, environment and equipment and the documents and procedures required for the safe and efficient management of settings. The learning and development requirements set out providers' duties under each of the six areas of Learning and Development and include the early learning goals. Practice Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage booklet which provides some further guidance on the legal requirements, details of the areas of Learning and Development and on key areas such as the EYFS principles and assessment. A1 poster which sets out the four guiding Principles of the EYFS and gives an overview of sixteen Commitments that providers need to follow in order to put the Principles into practice. This will be helpful to use with parents and professionals to introduce the EYFS. 24 cards which give practitioners the Principles and Commitments at a glance as well as introductory guidance on putting the principles into practice. They also provide details of the requirements for the areas of Learning and Development as well as an overview of child development. CD-Rom which contains all the information from the booklets as well as more in-depth information on all the Principles and Commitments covered on the cards. It allows practitioners to access information and video clips on effective practice, research and resources and to tailor their route to meet their own needs.

Here's the number to phone for a pack - 0845 602 22601 - but they're not available until 19th March.
According to my Network Co-ordinator unless you request a pack they are not going to be sending them out until next year
