In my area we used to get paid 'overtime' for courses, ie I got £80 for my first aid course. But I've just had a thought, do I need to put this through my books as it is an income & the money was paid into my business account?

Blimey, you lucky so and so!! Yes, if it's gone through your business account then you should really put it down as income, shame they didn't pay you cash. (But of course you would have put that down too wouldn't you ;D)

Yes I got that too but we're from same area, don't think everybody gets it. You can actually claim upto £120 per year for attending courses, it's classed as overtime.
I put mine through the books as it's payment.
It was good to get paid for courses though

Have they only stopped it till next tax year? That's what I thought.
At least we still get funding for the courses.
Talking of which I'm on the Safeguarding Children level 1 tomorrow night.

As others have already posted you should include your £80 as income in your accounts. (in my area we get £50, but the course costs £80 so we have to pay the balance of £30).
But you will have expenses you should also include in your accounts :- mileage (my last 1st aid course was about £10 x 6 weeks = £60), plus you'll probably need pens & notepad to take ... and the stamp & envelope or phone calls you used to book the course ....
