Hi everyone, Im a new one... not even got my registration cert through yet although that and my CRB's are all im waiting for. I just wondered if anyone could help. With regards to accounts i am absolutely positively 100% lost and just dont know where to start. I have kept receipts of things ive bought but just dont know how im supposed to do this and where to get the information. To be honest without you guys (ive read alot of your posts) i would be 100% lost with everything. My 'support' childminder is about as supportful as unclasped bra and the early years team said 'i dont know' to about 5 of my questions and its highly frusatrating. I just wondered whether someone could tell me where any info on Childminding and tax could be found?
Many Thanks
Kate

My 'support' childminder is about as supportful as unclasped bra What a fab description!!! I love it. There are quite a few threads already on accounts and what to do. If you are having the NCMA toolkit that also gives simple to follow information. If you are only just registering you will not have to complete a tax return until April 08. So would just keep all your receipts and not get too stressed. You will pick up loads of info on here Amanda xx

Hiya Kate Amanda's advice is spot on, don't worry too much just now as you have a whole year to get sorted, if you are using the NCMA tookit then it will have loads of advice in there BUT the main thing is we are all here to help you so just relax and ask away. No matter what the question we will try to answer!! Keep records though of all your income and expenditure even if it's just in a notebook for now, so that you don't forget.

Really & honestly it isn't that complicated. The NCMA toolkit I think is a must when starting out because everything you need to know is in there, comlete with books on Tax, benefits & NI & how to run your business. They are fab books & have been a god send to me at times.
Just keep all your receipts, read some of the threads on here & you'll be fine.
If you come across something you are not sure on when you start you only have to ask the girls on here, they've got an answer for everything!!!

Just wanted to say Hi and welcome to the forum Kate.
Don't worry about your tax - just keep all your receipts, even the small ones 'cos it's easy to forget what you've spent.
The others have given you good advice and if you're not sure about anything just ask

Hello Kate (form another one)
You have found a great forum I am recently new here and it is a mine of information.
The one piece of advice I can give it remember to get receipts for everything i was dreadful to begin with. Try to keep on top of your accounts the first two years i spent the hole of Marchgetting my accounts up to date now it is December and March so I am getting better.
The one thing I do is write amountd down and when and where it was spent on scraps if I don't get a reciept e.g. car boots, corner shop that doesn't give receipts. I put all of these in an envelope with that monday's date on so they are all togetehr and hten when I get around to doing my accounts I have all hte info. The main one beign don't forget to claim for everything if related to childcare.
love Kate

Hi there, I am quite new to this forum so hello everyone In my area our early years team run a course 'completing your self assessment tax return' it really does help and I would recommend if you can get on one, it will make doing your tax return so much easier and you get some really good tips on what sort of things to claim!
