Hi all Just been doing my accounts for August and was wondering how you all go about days out. We have been for loads of days out this summer, some have cost nothing and others have been quite expensive. An example being a day out to the Lakeland Maze. From where I live it is 120 miles round trip - in my accounts that works out at £48 for travel alone (@40p per mile) (we actually had free use of a mini bus and 3 minders went and we paid £7 each for diesel - but the tax man doesn't need to know that does he ) The entrance fee was something like £4.50 for me and then £3.50 per child. When you go to these places you don't get a receipt for entrance fees, nor do you get them for buying food to feed the animals, tractor rides and so on? ? Do you put your own and your own children's entrance fee and other cost through your books as well as the minded kids? Love Diane x

Anne-Marie has just confirmed what I was going to say. I put my entrance fee plus mindees through the books and anything I buy for them whilst there.

Hi
If I am going somewhere and my daughter is off school or something and I have to pay for her I put it through the books as I would only be going if I had the mindees if you get what I mean.

So what about not having any receipts for admission charges over £10, would this matter?

I do normally ask for a receipt if not issued with one, they don't mind, just explain I need it for my books.

Hi Diane
I agree it's best to get a receipt if you can - you could always take your own receipt book, fill it in and get the place to put their stamp on it.
But if you forget to get a receipt (which I often do) then I make sure I've got a brochure with the current price list so I could prove how much it was if I needed to.
