Paper Plate Halloween Mask
Children can make this fun but not-so- scary mask to dress up in for Halloween. Some adult assistance required with cutting depending on the age of the child.
white paper plate 1 per child
black color paint
ribbon 1 piece
tape
orange water color paint
black marker pen
Step By Step Instructions
1. Hold the back of the paper plate up to the face of the child who will be wearing the mask. Make a small mark on the plate with a pen to indicate where the eyes, nose and mouth will be; this area will be cut out so these marks won’t show.
2. Draw shapes on the back of the paper plate for the eyes nose and mouth. Cut out these areas. Cut them squiggly or weird shaped
3. There is an area of the plate that has a line around it the inside middle . Fill in this circular area of the top of the paper plate with black paint. Keep dipping your brush in the paint then diluting it with water slightly and paint the area around your face until you have covered up all the white of the paper plate and are satisfied with the deepness of the color.
4. Fill in the outer rim of the top of the paper plate with orange paint. Keep dipping your brush in the paint then diluting it with water slightly and paint the rim of the plate until you have covered up all the white and are satisfied with the deepness of the color.
5. Outline the eyes, nose and mouth and the outside of the face with black marker to accentuate the features and the facial area.
6. Let the paint dry completely before wearing the mask.
7. After the paper plate is completely dry it is time to tape on some ribbon to the back of the mask. Take a piece of ribbon and use it to measure around the head of the child who will be wearing the mask remembering to leave enough ribbon for tying up the ends. Cut this piece of ribbon in half. Tape one half to each side of the mask roughly where the eyes are so it will tie around the back of the child’s head.
We did this last year it was a cheap idea the kids loved them and everyones did look different
