Hi everyone - am new on here! Just wanted some realistic advice about what I need to buy as I am in the process of registering at the moment. I need an extra large stairgate as my stairs are very wide - anyone know where to get one. Your help is much appreciated. Debbie

I had the same trouble with my stairs and so in the end I got my stairgates from a pet shop. They do the dog gates which seem to be sold with the extending attachment rather than having to pay for one seperately.
Can also check on ebay as sometimes you get items cheaper. Stairgates seem to be one of the most expensive things to buy so if you can find them secoind hand then thats a bonus! Also check places like netmums and bounty under items for sale.
with reagrd to what else you need to buy really depends on how many children you are caring for. Main thing is something to transport them in so a double buggy is great! and a buggy board if needed. They give you a list on the DHC course of all the things you should realistically have anyway.
good luck and hope you find some bargains along the way!

Hi, i had trouble with my stairs as they are curved i bought a kiddy gard it is like a roller blind that you can pull out in any direction and it can extend to 1.30 metres it is brilliant as when i am not using it it just rolls back and you do not have the trouble of tripping over it. It was pricey at £55 but was well worth it and you can put it through your books anyway here is a link to it www.kiddicare.com/invt/stglaskgrz?N=375

Hello Debbie
Nice to meet you
Do you want advice about safety equipment you know what to buy or children's toys , or both or a bit of everything?
Put a note on the main childminding board you might get more response on there
Angel xx

That's ok, it takes a while to get used to where everything is.
