Special email update – message to remove ‘Plum Wooden Playhouse’ from nurseries
Following an incident last week in which a child died at nursery, Trading Standards is advising all nurseries with a Plum Wooden Playhouse (product code 25002) to remove it from use in their settings with immediate effect.
This is a precautionary measure and there is nothing at this stage to suggest the product is unsafe. It is thought that the product has already been withdrawn from sale pending an investigation into the incident. At this stage the playhouse is not being recalled by either the importer or the manufacturer.
The playhouse was on sale with a number of retailers including Littlewoods, Woolworths, Kybotech (trading as Gardens Buildings Direct) and Argos. Although at this stage there is nothing to suggest an issue with the product itself, NDNA recommends that you follow Trading Standards advice and remove the playhouse from use in your nursery for the time being.
NDNA will keep members updated about any further news about this product as we receive it. At the time of this email bulletin, there were no further announcements about the product but nurseries wishing to monitor the situation can click here to visit the product recall section on the Trading Standards website. This is where all announcements with regards to products that are being recalled are posted.
NDNA would like to stress that this is a precautionary measure and at this stage there is nothing to suggest that the product is dangerous.
