Hi Someone I know from toddler group has phoned me tonight and wants me to look after her little boy next Friday afternoon for what will most probably be either a one off or at most an extreme rarity! I know she will have to sign a short-term contract but what else would you give her? Surely I don't have to give her the whole lot of paperwork for 4 hours? I would really appreciate your advice as I don't want to overkill her with paperwork for half a day but want to know what you would all do. Thank you for your help. Lorri x

In this situation I do short-term contract, child record form & medication folder(all NCMA) & I give a diary sheet at the end of the session. I actually got my first full timer this way, as parent was very impressed that I'd bothered! Don't think she realized that all the NCMA stuff was the bare minimum! Tasha Oops! Forgot to say about form to say read & agree to policies & permission forms (again NCMA)!

I would do more or less the same as Tasha
I would get her to have a quick look at my policies and give her a brief outline then get her to sign one form to say she has read them all and understands them
Just to cover yourself
Have fun Lorri

Just a thought Lorri - do you have to be paid? Can you not just have a friend over on a playdate with yours for the afternoon and collect a favour in return? Sarahx

Thank you everyone.
It does seem a lot of hassle doesn't it!
I might just say that if she's okay with it I'll just have him over to play and not charge her but ask if she could write me a reference at some point in the future? She obviously likes me and trusts me enough to look after her little boy so a reference would be quite good in return for just over 4 hours care? Do you think?
Then if it happens again say that we will have to do it properly.
I'd have to ask her not to tell anyone I was doing it for nothing though otherwise I'd probably suddenly become strangely overly popular with all the other mums at toddlers!
I'll have to give it a think - see what hubby thinks.
Thanks again.
