It's been announced that in Spring the rule that you cannot use mobile phones in hospitals will be lifted (except in some highly sensitive equipment areas)
I think this is great news.
My brother has recently spent a long time in hospital and as he got better and was moved to a general ward he found the cost of using those phone/TV arrangements at the bed was really expensive - £3.50 per 24 hours for access plus call costs. It would have been a lot cheaper if he could have had his mobile on and we could have phoned him.
It must take the pressure off the nursing staff too as they will get less callers asking how patients are.

that is great news!!
i remember after having isabelle going downstairs in the morning and phoning everyone outside in my dressing gown!! highly embarrasing it was as i was a bit of a mess but i used the phone in the hospital to call my mum and cost me about £2.50 to say - hi, its a girl, see you later!!

That is great news
When I was in hospital last year I never did use the one by the bed much too expensive I have to confess I did actually use my mobile even had my charger by the side of the bed plugged in, but it is only because I had really nice nurses who felt sorry for me because I was on a ward with the elderly and they were screaming out night and day. I really think I would have gone mad ( if I am not already ) without my phone
It is great because now everyone who is not on a ward where there is machinery / heart monitors etc can use them freely without having to hide under the bedclothes to use it
