Hi. I live in stafford and my husband is in the army attached to 22 signal regiment.
I am about to become a childminder and i was wondering if there was anyone doing childminding while their husbands are in the army or are in the army themselves.

My dh is in the RAF and currently working away Mon-Fri I've been childminding for nearly 4 yrs now and have found it great to work around my children without the upset of me going out to work. (dh only started this new training in Sept) and will be doing it for 2 1/2 yrs!! ekkk There seems to be alot of demand for childminder on camps I've been to so is very worth while! This site is full of useful help look forward to seing you around

Hi
Yes, my husband is in the army, we're in Cambridge.
You have to ask permission to be able to use the house for business - didn't know if you knew this or not? I went to the Welfare Officer and he sorted it out for me - took about 4 weeks to come through but there was no problems!
I think you will be really busy being on army housing estate (presuming you are!).
If you need any help with it let me know.
Lorri x

I started childminding whilst hubby was in the army.
We were in army quarters and army had no problem with me running my business from the quarter.
Our last posting was to Oxford but to a private hiring as no quarters were available, no problems there either.
Hubbys now finished, he's done his time so I have carried on minding in our own house now
Where about in Stafford are you?
Carol xx

I don't live on RAF quarters but my hubby is in the RAF based at Brize Norton.
I'm registered but haven't started minding yet. I'm looking forward to all the kids keeping me entertained whenever he is away.

Thanks for that Emma - I have heard the quarters are not great. My hubby has to commute 1.5hrs everyday as we live in Basingstoke. Now EmmaAlex - you must be careful when referring to Army wives - I'm an RAF wife and may get twitchy. LOL. The hubbys Army/RAF - they do get funny about it don't they. Makes me laugh.

Hi everyone
My hubby is in the Army, we are based in Abingdon, he has been in Iraq for the last 5 months... nearly back though!!!
I've minded in our last 3 postings (Hullavington and Ay Nik in Cyprus)
Don't you find it's not such a big world in the forces, always running into people I know, or know someone we know!!
