I did my elemtary (spelling) food hygiene in Nov 04, do you have to do it every 3 years does anyone know? If so I will be doing this one I had 2 days at college for this and it was sooooo dull, hehe at least I could stop for a coffee break

This course looks excellent and definitely something for my portfolio...or even the kitchen wall Is it definitely fully recognised by Ofsted and how often would it need renewing? emma x

Hi Emma It's not (yet! a condition of registration that you do a food hygiene course, but Ofsted will be happy to see that you have done one without having to be told, as it were. It shows good practice. As regards renewing, the certificate does not have an expiry date on it but I think every 3 years or so would be a good idea as things and ideas do change, plus we forget things don't we!

That's good news. I think I'll do the course when I have a spare couple of hours. My sister-in-law is a childminder in Nottingham and she got to go on a food hygiene course for free, is this the case in many areas? I'm based in Lincoln. Also, where can you get the different coloured chopping boards from? I've been looking out for them but so far have only seen white, glass or wooden ones...probably me just being blind!!

Yes, they are Susan. I got mine in the post and am awaiting my child abuse one as well. Definitely worth having - something to show Ofsted. They are recognised I believe.

Hi
I have done both these courses and would highly recommend them to anyone, they beat sitting for hours in a class room!!!!!
Also, they don't actually send you the certificate for child abuse, you have to print it off the site yourself.

However, for some reason my computer errored on printing the certificate several times. I contacted them and they are putting a certificate in the post to me. Susan x

Oh Great that's o.k then!
I didn't want you to be sat waiting for one to arrive just incase you didn't know you could print them. At least you will get your certificate supplied. I went out and bought some special paper to print mine on!!!!!!

Yes they are very professional looking. The food hygiene has to come direct because your score has to be verified by the proper body on food hygiene. (Sorry forget who they are off hand!! )

Excellent idea, will go online and try and sit it over the weekend along with probably another couple of them.
Def better than going to night school or weekend courses.

you won't regret doing the courses, they are worth it and each one takes approx 3 hours each, so if you have the spare time you should definately go for it! ;D

Yes I still have my 2 full day first aid course coming up soon!!!!!
Thats why I thought it was best to do both the online courses now before I start getting overwhelmed by other things which need doing!
Good luck with your courses ;D
