[glow=red,2,300] Good day all[/glow]
I’m having my first Ofsted inspection on the 22nd of this month and like most people worried about what I’m expected from them. What sort of questions will they be asking and the risk assessment, I check everything every day but don’t keep a record if I do need to write out a risk assessment down do I need to do this every day or once a week? As most things like the toys, all rooms and the equipment are cheeked every day.
Birth to three I’ve do with photo’s for activities and a little writing on that activity I don’t keep a diary on a child apart from a book I keep on the child’s progress, example: when a child counts I write the numbers down what the child can count to, colours, shapes, etc. all the children’s work are all displayed like drawings, paintings, junk modelling etc, also I do a weekly birth to three weekly planner
How would you do your self assessment properly?
I said to myself I wouldn’t worry when I have my inspection but now I am.
Anyone with any advice would be a real help.

Lucky you John knowing what day they are coming this far in advance too - how did you manage that then ?
You seem to be doing everything right so I would not worry
If you look around the forum and in the Ofsted inspection section you should find lots of advice already there
If you do need anything after reading some of that then give us all a shout and I am sure someone will point you in the right direction
Good luck keep us all posted
Angel xx

I'm also curious to know how you got a date for your inspection - Ofsted usually like to give you a few days and then "surprise" you.
From what you've said you've got everything covered so don't worry.
Good luck and I hope it goes well for you

Hi John - long time no talk! I've moved you to the Ofsted section hope that's ok! I'm amazed you've got a date as well.... You sound like you have everything in place - TIP - if they suggest you need more, or haven't done something, just say it's on your wish list or personal development things to do! It gets you out of all sorts of scrapes Good luck! Sarahx

Thank's Ofsted phoned and all they said are you working on the school holidays i said yes, I have two a 2 year old and a 9 year old. So they ask what days are the children here so i said the best day would be Monday, so ofsted said i'll see you on Monday just after 12pm. It's the same one i have on my interduction a nice lass but she might change on this inspection lol.
Thank's for the advice, I'm off now to find some people working in our Community as i'm make flash cards

I remember you from a briefing course when you were with Social Services, come in!" She was fairly impressed with my memory as that was 1998 but I didn't actually register until 2003. Saira

Ho well it's my inspection tomorrow not looking forward to it but in some way i am. I've been busy all day seeing to paper work and planning all my activities. I userly go to the toy Labrary on a Monday so i don't do a lot of planning for a Monday, if the toy library is not on i go to Jumping Jacks.
So all week been planning for a full day of childminding activities for ofsted. As i think Ofsted would't wanted to go to any of these with me, i might be wrong.
As anyone when being inspected been out with your children: park or any other outing? I might ask tomorrow would you like to come to the toy labrary with use see what they have to say.
Hopefuly everything is in place.

I'm happy realy, I got a GOOD in my grading the two thing's let me down was having no water at hand for the children? but the children always had drinks in the fridge, and all my children who i have don't drink water its spat out or goes down the sink.
The other was i diden't do the new child protection Course that as you come out. But i said i was booked on one next year. but i was told a fisrt time inspection you woudn't get an outstanding.
Apart from that every thing was in place and all that i do with the children she liked, she stayed for three hours looking at all the children's work i have on the walls and display shelfing. I ask her would she like to join in the glueing and stick she turn it down as she might of got glue on her clothes
Not a bad day for my first inspection, what do you think?
