Hi emlou and welcome! Not sure what you'd need a ladder for? Maybe a 3rd storey - but I just state on my certificate I don't use that part of the house for childminding When fire inspector came out to me recently, he said they don't advise anyone to be a monkey - cover the door and wait - a burly man will come and rescue me! Having said that, however, niether of them were particularly burly LOL Wait and see what O say - don't buy anything yet! Sarahx

I would more than likely do myself more damage trying to climb down a ladder than I would if I waited for the fire brigade!!!

I had the fire brigade out to check my house (nothing to do with my liking for men in uniform lol) and his advice was to get everyone out of the house as quickly as possible but if you were upstairs the advice was the same as Sarah's - do not try climbing out of windows, etc,
get yoursleves into a room, block of the doorways, shout for help from the window and get the fire brigade out.
I was pleased with that advice as i am terrified of heights sand the thought of getting children out of a high window terrifies me love kate
