It is the level 2 course that Lana mentioned, it is annually quality checked by the Royal Institute of Public Health for use as a self-study training course fulfilling the syllabus of the Level 2 Award in Food Safety (formerly known as Foundation or Basic Food Hygiene at Level 1). I fully expected this to be quite hard and had intended to do it over two days. But once I had started I decided to continue while it was all fresh in my mind. You go through various training sections which cover things from types and causes of contamination, safe storage, cleaning and disinfection, temperature control, hazard analysis. It took me two hours of gentle studying and there are small multiple choice tests along the way to help you see if you have taken it in. You must complete all the training before you can continue to the test. You can save it and go back as often as you like, spread it over several days if you wish, you can even go back over the training if you want. At the end there is a 30 question multiply choice test which you can take up to 2 hours over (it took me about 15 minutes) you need to gain 75% (I got 93%) if you don't get 75 then you can go back into the training and take the test again at a later time until you pass. Most are just common sense. When you have passed the test the certificate will be posted to you within 10 days. Really enjoyed doing it, learnt some interesting things and am now going to clean my kitchen again They will only work on PC, not Apple Mac computers, although they are working to change that. Well my advice to everyone then would be to do it the way Pauline has!! Do not put yourselves through 7 hours of this course when it is available on the net!!
I suppose depending on what area you are in you may get it funded if you go on the course through you local council so maybe better off out our area doesnt get any funding so I know in three years time I will definately be going on the net. £25 is a small price to pay for my sanity!! hee hee

Well done! That's what I got. I got two questions wrong too and like you say it was more down to not just thinking carefully before answering rather than being totally wrong! Congratulations

Don't worry Angel, trust me you won't have any problems, there is no pressure and with multiple choice questions you always have a clue anyway - it's got to be one of them!!

Just completed this course. How easy is that, better than it taking up hours of your time on a sat. Didn't take me long at all & I only got 1 question wrong. Just wait for my certificate now to add to the others.

Did this course last night. It's great!!!!!!!!!
I managed to do the whole thing and the test in about 2 hours. It's very easy to understand and the actual test takes no more than about 10 minutes. You have a little mini quiz at the end of each section to check if you have remembered the information.
It is so much easier than sitting a whole day on a course, and at least you can do it in your own time!
Thank you so much for this link. I passed with 90% and the certificate is on its way!!!!!!!!! ;D
