i am trying to get my head round the type of planning that we are going to have to do for the EYFS. I have been on the bromley childminding website and they talk about long term, medium term and short term planning. Does any one know if we are expected to produce all three types of planning or just one or two of these.Any help or ideas of what planning to use would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure that the EYFS is going to evolve further so am not intending to put too much effort into the planning as yet. What I am going to do though is reference my activities in my planning folder for both B23 and EYFS if possible. Somehow, the EYFS doesn't look as straightforward in that respect but at least I will show willing when OFSTED visit.

I've had a look at Bromley and tbh it makes it all look a bit complicated EYFS talks about long term plans (overarching themes for the year), medium term plans (themes/ celebratory days / festivals etc in a bit more detail) and short term plans (individual planning for each child working from observations, next steps ideas, medium term plans and incorporating child's interests) which we all do anyway - just a lot of people don't write everything down - which I think we'll have to do to prove we're doing it! I just thank goodness I'm not a teacher any more - imagine doing all that for 30+!!!! There'll be so much training offered I think we'll all get our questions answered! Hope that makes sense! Sarahx

Hi Custardcream
I would not worry about the EYFS yet
Most of the Birth to Three and Foundation are going to be included anyway so continue at the moment to use these
I am going on a training course later in the year as soon as I find out any more information I will let everyone know
I am sure that I will do activities / planning etc just like I did for the Birth to Three ( did you read those posts ?)
Like Sarah said there will be a lot of training for everyone and I am sure once we all know what we are doing loads of advice here too
Do not worry about it yet

I agree with Angel - I wouldn't worry about trying to implement the EYFS yet - just try to get you head around the Birth to Three first and then EYFS will make a little more sense then
