Hi ya,
I have a parent who can't afford to pay me for the four week notice period however she managed to pay for 2 weekly, and i've said that to her but she's going on about being in debt and having to look after he 5 kids, her and her husband don't work - i even halved my usual rate for her, picked and dropped her child off (did charge her though). I sympathise with her and have had to leave it up to her to pay when she can afford it - before new year though
so i'm without pay for 3 weeks and i have things to pay for aswel learnt my lesson will want 4 weeks notice fee in advance and two weeks advance at signing of contracts - will parents give up 6 weeeks fee

Sorry to hear you having problems with this parent - especially at this time of year you could really do without it This is one of the reasons I always ensure that all fees are paid up front. I hope you manage to get your money - I will keep my fingers crossed for you Dee

she's takin the michael ..... is the contract ending ? I would not have the child until the full fees owed are paid to me as you say you have bills to pay as well and i think you have been more than generous already slicing your fees for her !!! Susan xxx

I bet she had the child care tax credit in advance!

I wonder how many christmas presents she has already purchased?

You need to be assertive and persistent. Don't be fobbed off with a sob story. As Monkey 1 says - she's probably had the tax credits and is now more worried about affording christmas than paying you.

i would send her an invoice with a date that she ahs to pay buy and say in the invoice if she does not pay by then you will be getting legal advice to get your money.

Its not fair is it? This should be a high priority thing like mortgage or rent. She would't be pleased if she didn't get money! This is the bloody difficult part of our job- our personalities are too soft and caring. o blinkin ek! Hope u get sorted x

I agree with everyone else
Her problems are NOT your problems
I have been much to soft in the past and let people off
Thing is everyone is right about tax credits Ask if she has cancelled that yet and I bet she has not so that means that she has been paid it and should have paid you
Good luck I hope you sort something out
Keep us posted
Angel xx

If she has 5 children and her husband and her are not working , why did she need a childminder?
Even on benefits she's getting at least £250 per week.
You should remind her that if she doesn't pay you she'll be in even more debt as she's signed a contract and you could take her to court.

I've given her till end of dec to pay me and che claims that she's not getting any sickness benefit as her gp won't sign her off sick and she's getting the lowest rate of tax credits. i'm too soft to take her to the small claims court - i can't be doing with the hassle at the moment.
thanks for the advice everyone - i'll wait this one out biut if she passes the agreement date then i'll act.
