Ideas on morning sickness/all day sickness
« Thread Started on Nov 28, 2007, 12:43pm »

Hi

As you know I am 12 weeks pregnant and I am due for my scan this afternoon, but I am feeling so sick not just in the morning but all day, I really thought I had got past it but no such luck.

I just feel awful and I have to drink 1/2 pints of water this afternoon, god only knows how I am going to manage that.

I am just feeling really sorry for myself and just wanted to let you all share in it, so sorry.

If any of you have any ideas on what I could eat to stop me feeling sick it would be great.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Love

Lorraine xx

Hi Lorraine,
I remember that feeling all too well. I was signed off sick from work when i was 12 weeks until i was about 18 weeks pregnant.
It might not work for you, but my doctor told me to eat ginger in any shape or form, so i lived off ginger biscuits I even took them to bed with me, every one laughed at me but it really helped me.

Hope you feel better soon.

hi lorraine,

when i was pregnant with my daughter (shes now 2) i was constantly being sick from 7 weeks pregnant till i was 32 weeks pregnant. i was constantly in and out of hospital because i was so dehydrated.

I was given all sorts of medication - even drugs to combat sickness chemotherapy patients are given. the thing that worked for me was the vitamin THIAMIN. i took one tablet a day and the sickness just lifted.

i knew 2 women that had the bad sickness like me and they both tried this and it worked for them too.

PM if you want more of a chat.

I know how awful it can be as i lost 4 stone and was so weak all of the time.

take care xx

hiya,

I know how you feel i am in the same situation but i am only 7 weeks pregnant. I have found tat eating little and often helps.

Also arrowroot biscuits and jacobs crackers. Put a back beside your bed and eat a few before you get up.

I too had hyperemisis (same as Jen) that started at 5 weeks with both of my pregnancies.

It is the worst experience I have ever gone through.

I wish someone had told me about thiamin as all remedies & drugs I tried did nothing.

As the sickness started to ease eating little and often defo made a difference.

Good luck with your scan. x

Good luck with your scan Lorraine. Sorry to hear you're feeling so awful at the moment. Fingers crossed this will pass soon & then you can bloom through the rest of your pregnancy! I'm afraid I was sick through my entire 9 months and tried ginger biscuits too (they did help a wee bit).
Let us know how the scan went - its sooo exciting!

Hi, The only thing that worked for me with both my pregnancies was ginger snaps. I had to constantly snack as well as if i was hungry then that made me worse.

I have to say ginger biscuits were what worked for me too and satsumas, I couldnt eat enough of them I was addicted and ben and jerry's ice cream.... wait a minute they were cravings sorry, but ginger buscuits were really good for the sickness.

The only thing that worked for me were travel sickness bands. Like little sweatbands for your wrists with a noggin thing on that you put in a certain place on you wrist (pack will tell you I cant remember) and it stops the feeling of sickness. I wore mine continuously throughout as I felt so sick, never was but always felt it. Arrowroot biccies are worth a try too.
I lost 2 stone in the first 20 weeks through lack of eating due to feeling sick, soon put that back on!!!! ;)

Hope things start to get better for you soon!!

Aarh poor you, I remember this well.

I suffered with severe sickness morning, noon and night and nothing seemed work for me, sorry.

Good luck with finding a remedy that works for you

How did the scan go?

It's an amazing thing isn't it seeing your baby for the first time on that screen.

Hi Ladies

Thanks for that people have said ginger biscuits to me before but I never really liked them before I was pregnant so not sure if I will like them or not, but I am going to get some and give them a try, don't feel too bad today, fingers crossed.

The scan went really well even though the woman doing it was so mirserably and didn't even talk or anything just said oh yes everything is ok and you are due on the 10 June thank you good bye, which I just thought was really rude.

Hope everyone is ok today.

Hi Lorraine

I am so sorry that you feel so ill.

I can't help you I'm afraid as I had hyperemesis throughout my pregnancy and ended up in hospital with dehydration.

I tried everything but only anti-sickness tablets helped and I had to take them right up to the day Benjamin arrived! Even with the tablets I felt so ill and couldn't do anything, I couldn't concentrate, I couldn't cope with being around lots of people and I couldn't drive throughout! Not only that but we'd moved to a completely new area far from home where I didn't know anyone and never got to know anyone! Not a good time in my life! But saying that it was completely and utterly worth all of it!!!!

Sorry no help was I!

I really hope that you begin to feel better soon it doesn't last for most people.

Love

Lorri x
